TURKEY BUSINESS, PROFITABLE BUSINESS, MEAT SALE, AND HATCHERY

Looking for a profitable business which you can invest with that little money in your account  ? Try Turkey business.
Turkey is a large poultry birds raised for its meat, there are two
varieties of Turkey, we have Local Turkey and foreign Turkey, both local and foreign Turkey are profitable.
Research has revealed that the cost of raising turkey depended on which variety one you wanted to raise, whether it was local variety or foreign, most of the local varieties had adapted to our weather and could therefore, perform on normal conditions without spending extra money, feed and vaccines on them.

“To began a turkey business at subsistence level, you may start with N30, 000; N10, 000 to get an adult male Turkey, while the remaining N20, 000 could get up to three adult females Turkey.

Turkeys always dwelt on scavenging on food remnants and leftovers and might be fed with wheat offal, maize bran and grains, to gain more weight with male Turkey weighing 7kg to 10kg and female Turkey weighing between 5kg and 7kg.
however, if the local varieties were fed with improved feeds like grower mash, layer mash and maggot meal, an adult male might weigh up to 15kg while adult females turkey might weigh up to 10kg.

If your tm target was to achieve a weight of 10-15kg, you could feed your Turkey with grower mash at the early stages, from hatching to one month, and then later feed them with the layer mash or finisher.

On their maturity of Turkey, it took turkeys six months to matureand fully grown up, and females start laying at age 6 months and it can laid up to 10 eggs or more out of which eight turkeys could survive if you had a good hen, but averagely five survive, when taken to hatchery or natural hatchery by the female Turkey.

It took up to 28 days for the eggs to hatch into turkey chicks and one could detect a female Turkey that was ovulating by seeing her easily submitting to the male, The female normally lies in front of the male when they are ready to mate.

The mature males were characterised by their courtship trait of opening of the hind tail and making unique sounds to attract the female. Generally, local turkeys were more resistant to diseases because they had adapted to local weather, but might also be affected by fowl pox at two to three months old of age, vaccines must be administered to the foreign varieties at one month to prevent the disease which affected them at transitional stage to maturity.

At early stages, Turkey chicks don't know how to fee and they did not differentiate between feed and sand, so you should put day olds chicken, e.g. broiler and Turkey together so that the broiler chicks can taught the Turkey chicks how to feed. After some days Turkey chicks will also learn.

Alternatively, in the absence of chicks, you might use your fingers to attract their attention by hitting the chick tray until they recognized and learnt to feed on their own.

“You have to keep them indoors at early stages under close supervision because day old chicks from day one to three day old turkey cannot pick themselves up when they fall upside down, so you have to pick them up yourself, otherwise you may lose them because they don’t have enough energy to get up whenever they fall.

And foreign turkeys should be kept in a complete deep litter system with wood shavings, drinkers, feeders put in place, and they should not be put in battery cages.
When your female Turkey began to lay eggs after mate, you can take the eggs to the hatchery or you allow your female Turkey to do the artificial hatchery, that Turkey chicks is money , people are out the there in the market

ready to buy your chicks, imaging having up to 100 chick and one chick is selling for #350 , that is huge money just on the chicks alone.
You can comment and share your Turkey business experience so that others can learn.
