During the first days of stay of your turkeys in the pen, cover the litter area first. The turkeys might confuse the litter area for the feeding area. They might end up eating up their own waste. These are prestarter feeds, starter feeds, grower feeds and finisher feeds. As their names suggests, these four types of feeds are based on the age of when to feed them to the turkey. Starter feed from day old to eight weeks, grower feed from 8 weeks to 10 weeks and Finisher from 10/weeks to adult or to the market. The quality of these feeds is important because they will affect the quality of the turkey meat. As for the water, always remember to never give cold water to your turkeys. Cold water is lethal to the turkeys. For drinking, it is better to give them lukewarm water. If you have extra budget, you can also dilute minerals and vitamins on their drinking water for added nutrients. Turkey is a large poultry birds raised for its meat,there are two

The mature males were characterised by their courtship trait of opening of the hind tail and making unique sounds to attract the female. Generally, local turkeys were more resistant to diseases because they had adapted to local weather, but might also be affected by fowl pox at two to three months old of age, vaccines must be administered to the foreign varieties at one month to prevent the disease which affected them at transitional stage to maturity.

At early stages, Turkey chicks don't know how to fee and they did not differentiate between feed and sand, so you should put day olds chicken, e.g. broiler and Turkey together so that the broiler chicks can taught the Turkey chicks how to feed. After some days Turkey chicks will also learn.

Alternatively, in the absence of chicks, you might use your fingers to attract their attention by hitting the chick tray until they recognized and learnt to feed on their own.

“You have to keep them indoors at early stages under close supervision because day old chicks from day one to three day old turkey cannot pick themselves up when they fall upside down, so you have to pick them up yourself, otherwise you may lose them because they don’t have enough energy to get up whenever they fall.

And foreign turkeys should be kept in a complete deep litter system with wood shavings, drinkers, feeders put in place, and they should not be put in battery cages.
