TURKEY BUSINESS, PROFITABLE BUSINESS, MEAT SALE, AND HATCHERY

Looking for a profitable business which you can invest with that little money in your account  ? Try Turkey business.
Turkey is a large poultry birds raised for its meat, there are two
varieties of Turkey, we have Local Turkey and foreign Turkey, both local and foreign Turkey are profitable.
Research has revealed that the cost of raising turkey depended on which variety one you wanted to raise, whether it was local variety or foreign, most of the local varieties had adapted to our weather and could therefore, perform on normal conditions without spending extra money, feed and vaccines on them.

“To began a turkey business at subsistence level, you may start with N30, 000; N10, 000 to get an adult male Turkey, while the remaining N20, 000 could get up to three adult females Turkey.

Turkeys always dwelt on scavenging on food remnants and leftovers and might be fed with wheat offal, maize bran and grains, to gain more weight with male Turkey weighing 7kg to 10kg and female Turkey weighing between 5kg and 7kg.
however, if the local varieties were fed with improved feeds like grower mash, layer mash and maggot meal, an adult male might weigh up to 15kg while adult females turkey might weigh up to 10kg.

If your tm target was to achieve a weight of 10-15kg, you could feed your Turkey with grower mash at the early stages, from hatching to one month, and then later feed them with the layer mash or finisher.

On their maturity of Turkey, it took turkeys six months to matureand fully grown up, and females start laying at age 6 months and it can laid up to 10 eggs or more out of which eight turkeys could survive if you had a good hen, but averagely five survive, when taken to hatchery or natural hatchery by the female Turkey.

It took up to 28 days for the eggs to hatch into turkey chicks and one could detect a female Turkey that was ovulating by seeing her easily submitting to the male, The female normally lies in front of the male when they are ready to mate.

The mature males were characterised by their courtship trait of opening of the hind tail and making unique sounds to attract the female. Generally, local turkeys were more resistant to diseases because they had adapted to local weather, but might also be affected by fowl pox at two to three months old of age, vaccines must be administered to the foreign varieties at one month to prevent the disease which affected them at transitional stage to maturity.

At early stages, Turkey chicks don't know how to fee and they did not differentiate between feed and sand, so you should put day olds chicken, e.g. broiler and Turkey together so that the broiler chicks can taught the Turkey chicks how to feed. After some days Turkey chicks will also learn.

Alternatively, in the absence of chicks, you might use your fingers to attract their attention by hitting the chick tray until they recognized and learnt to feed on their own.

“You have to keep them indoors at early stages under close supervision because day old chicks from day one to three day old turkey cannot pick themselves up when they fall upside down, so you have to pick them up yourself, otherwise you may lose them because they don’t have enough energy to get up whenever they fall.

And foreign turkeys should be kept in a complete deep litter system with wood shavings, drinkers, feeders put in place, and they should not be put in battery cages.
When your female Turkey began to lay eggs after mate, you can take the eggs to the hatchery or you allow your female Turkey to do the artificial hatchery, that Turkey chicks is money , people are out the there in the market

ready to buy your chicks, imaging having up to 100 chick and one chick is selling for #350 , that is huge money just on the chicks alone.
You can comment and share your Turkey business experience so that others can learn.

Must read, Inspirational post, written by Femi Aribisala ( Love is better than sacrifice and Love cannot be bought)

This post is a must read for everyeone      Love cannot be bought neither can God be bribed.” A man got his girlfriend pregnant. Therefore, he asked her to marry him.
‘But do you love me?’ the girl asked him. “What’s love got to do with it?” he replied. “Am I not doing the right thing by you?” However, the girl would not be moved. “Do you love me?” she insisted. Heart of the Matter A requirement fulfilled without love is intrinsically inferior to one done in love. An obligation done without love merely answers the call of duty. But one done in love goes above and beyond the call of duty. We cannot love without giving but we can give without loving. Therefore, believers should be encouraged to love and not just to give money, knowing that if we love we will automatically give. In any case, what God requires of us is our love and not our money. For this reason, he says: “My son, give me your heart.” (Proverbs 23:26). He does not say: “My son, give me your money.” What God desires is love (mercy) and not sacrifices. But what our pastors and religious leaders insist on are sacrifices and not love. Indeed, sacrifice is another name for religion. Religious man has always seen sacrifice as a means of appeasing deities, and pastors are quintessentially religious. They will tell you about five keys and seven strategies for obtaining God’s favour. But the true God is not an idol and believers should not be made to act like idol-worshipers. When God finally sent his Son Jesus as his one true and faithful witness, he validated Hosea’s cry in the wilderness. God says through Hosea: “I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” (Hosea 6:6). Jesus confirms this by telling us: “Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’” (Matthew 9:13). Today’s pastors have still not learnt what this means and Christians are none the wiser. Sacrifice is another word for tithes and offerings, for these are ostensibly offered to God. In effect, God says: I desire mercy and not tithes and offerings. I want you to love me. I don’t just want you to give me tithes and offerings. Fleecing the Flock Pastors have refused to learn what this means because it is not in their interest to do so. If God does not desire sacrifice, how then can they continue to insist on the money they extort from their parishioners in the name of sacrifices to God? How can they continue to have their free lunches and cortege of cars? How can they continue to finance their lavish life-styles from the income of others? How can they continue to get others to bank-roll the religious empires they build as a result of their illusions of grandeur? Let me ask again: What does God require of the believer? He wants us to love him and to love our neighbour as ourselves. These straightforward requirements are highlighted in a discussion between Jesus and one of the scribes: “The scribe said to (Jesus), ‘Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but he. And to love him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbour as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.’ Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, ‘You are not far from the kingdom of God.’” (Mark 12:32-34). But pastors remain far from the kingdom of God; holding others down with them. Let no one deceive you. The payment of tithes and offerings will not guarantee anyone’s place in heaven. It will certainly ensure that men will be in the good books of their pastors. Wrong teaching in the churches has shipwrecked the faith of many. When affliction comes, some go before the Lord in anger and confusion: “But Father, I pay my tithe and I give my offerings, so why is this happening to me?” Who told you paying tithes and giving offerings safeguards a Christian from anything? Love Covers Sins Sacrifices do not and cannot motivate God. God loves us not because we sacrifice to him but because love is his nature. God is love, therefore, he loves unreservedly. (1 John 4:8). God’s love and forgiveness cannot be bought. Neither can God be bribed. If God loved us when we were his enemies, would he not love us now that we are his sons? Would he not love us irrespective of whether or not we pay tithes and give offerings? In any case, who ever heard of a son giving offerings to his father? (Matthew 17:25-26). Everything the father has belongs to the son and everything the son has belongs to the father. God is not worshiped with men’s hands, as if he needed anything. (Acts 17:25). But we worship God with our hands by what we claim to give him. When we give a lot of money to a church, we are convinced we are worshiping him a great deal. However, the one true God is self-sufficient. He does not need our money to build his church. What we are as believers is far more important to God than what we have. God loves us because of who we are and not because of what we have. He loves us because he is our Father and we are his sons. He dearly loves those who follow the commandments of Jesus and are therefore re-created in his divine image and likeness. God says of himself: “I AM WHO I AM.” (Exodus 3:14). He does not say, like men: “I am what I have.” Sacrifice of Fools Sacrifices for sins are like the flowers a husband gives to his wife after having an affair. It is foolish to presume they would atone for his unfaithfulness. The wife doesn’t need the flowers. She needs a loving husband. She needs a husband who is faithful and committed to her. Similarly, God needs sons who love and obey him, rather than those who give him ritualistic gifts. That is what Samuel meant when he asked Saul: “Has the Lord as much pleasure in your burnt offerings and sacrifices as in your obedience? Obedience is far better than sacrifice. He is much more interested in your listening to him than in your offering the fat of rams to him.” (1 Samuel 15:22). That is the reason why David observes in the psalms that the sacrifices of God are fundamentally different from those offered by men: “You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; you do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart – these, O God, you will not despise.” (Psalm 51:16-17). David should know. He slept with another man’s wife; got her pregnant, had her husband killed, and married her; all in one fell swoop. When God exposed his sin through Prophet Nathan, David secured God’s forgiveness without offering any sacrifice whatsoever. He secured forgiveness by simply repenting of his sins and by appealing to God for mercy

How to begin your own poultry farming as a civil servant and after retirement,

Benefits of Poultry Farming are so numerous that this page may not contain it all. Apart from the chicken being used as food,

Poultry Farming is equally profitable. A good poultry farmer earns above N20 million per annul depending on how big the farm is. All these benefits are open to you if you start your own poultry farm today! There are basically three different breeds of bird for poultry business. We have the Broilers, Cockerels, and Layers. The Broilers grows very faster and are ready for sale at 12 weeks from hatch. Cockerels grows slower and can take up to twenty four weeks before they are matured for marketing. But be assured of making back whatever amount of money you invested in the business in multiple fold within a short period of time. Before you venture into poultry farming business, you need to seat back and do proper calculation and planning; make sure you have idea of all the costs involved. In this article, I’ll be endeavor to give you the ideas of what is involved so you can build upon . How To Start Egg Supply Business In Nigeria Currently they seem to be no high level, hi-tech poultry farms in this country like the ones we used to see in USA, Europe and Asia. Any investor who have enough nerve and needed capital to venture into it will have reasons to smile within a short period of investment. Up till now, Nigeria still import chicken from other countries because the ones the local farmers produces are not enough to meet the demand of the over 150 Million citizens. There is certainly huge market for poultry rearing in this country as well as other countries. Now – if you’re ready to get started and hit the goldmine that is awaiting in poultry farming business, here are the basic requirements you need to set up your farm. Acquire Land In Good Location One plot of land of 120 x 60 square meter is perfect for setting up medium scale poultry farm, but as a salary earners you can use that vacant room in your hours or that uncompleted building in your area  at least for a start. Once you have a land or a room that is big enough for your farm set up, half of what your need have been taken care of. Space to keep birds is one of  the hardest and probably the most expensive part of poultry business in places like Lagos, Abuja, and other major cities. Since you may not be allowed to carry out Big Poultry farming amongs residents or other populated environment due to the smell that is associated with poultry rearing and the subsequent health impact, I’ll advice that you look for land in a rural area or in farms if you want to go for bigger poultry farming, There you will get lands cheaper, stays out of trouble and do your production there, while your products will be transported to the urban area for sell. You can get a large chunk of land in a developing area for small amount compared to how much you will get the same size of land in a city like Lagos.
Build Chicken House For Your Birds Chicken Coop or poultry house is the building where your chicken will be kept. This is the second most important part of your poultry farm set up. The sizes and construction varies based on your need but make sure the building is spacious enough for the chicken to run around. The house should be constructed in a way that you will be able to control the ventilation and air movement. Get a qualified engineer to do designing and building for you if you are going for large scale construction. Else, you can just visit any good poultry farm to see how the house is constructed. The diagram below is the typical design of the standard chicken house. Like I said before, visit Poultry farms to see how it is done in your area. Save Poultry farm house plan When planning out your Hens house, always remember that space is very important. Don’t compromise on this to avoid frequent loss of your birds through suffocation and contamination. Buy Healthy Day Old Chicks For Starting You need to acquire your birds (normally day-old chicks) and will have to take very good care of them for the first seven to nine weeks of their life. You must buy your day-old-chicks from a healthy source — the productivity of your chicks depends on how healthy they are! Buy from chicken hatchery that mainly deals with the supplying of different species of day-old chickens. It’s better to buy from the hatchery, Chicken hatchery usually produce good quantity of day old chicks through the use of incubators. The estimated price for day old chicken in Nigeria is N100 – N250. Negotiate the prices with the sellers, you can get it cheaper if you’re buying many, if you nee day-old-chicken you can call or e-mail this number and email 08132648095 for your healthy day old chicken. So you can start with 50birds or 20 birds for your new poultry farm, you will need nothing less than 20 thousands naira to begin. This will cover the cost of birds, drugs and food. And you must ensure that you have enough space for the chickens to run around; then you put up low cost poultry house or any type you think you can afford because chickens need shelter from the rain and predators. Get Feeds, Feeders And Water Troughs Chicken feed is very important if you want good harvest. You can buy feeds at stores and make sure you buy the sack of feed that bears the label for the kind of chickens you have, such as Broiler starter, Chick starter, Layer feeds, etc. The store feeds are basically balanced feed which will help your chickens do fine if you don’t feed them other feeds. Avoid cheap feeds that have low nutritional value — your bird wouldn’t do well with that, don’t just buy because they are cheap, buy because the feed is quality and contains good nutritional value. You can also set out whole grains in a separate feeder if you like. I do. This can save you a lot of money if you have a source of cheap grain, especially if you use a high-protein chicken feed. For example, a high-protein layer ration with 20% protein will be formulated for use with supplemental grain, with the assumption that the hens will eat about 50% layer ration and 50% grain. Chicks need lots of protein and will pretty much ignore supplemental grain until they’re older and aren’t growing as fast. There’s really little point in offering them grain until they’re 6-8 weeks old. — Plamondon.com/faq Apart from the feeding, you need to regularly vaccinate your chickens to protect them from bird flu and other diseases. Feeding is extensive, you have to feed them from day-old to maturity. Important: Light must be available at all time in your poultry farm to keep the chickens warm, especially during raining season when the humidity is always very low. Look for reliable source of power to supply your hens house with heat and light. Most layers will start laying eggs the moment they are 18 weeks old but some wait till they are about 22 weeks old. Whichever way, Layer farming is considered the most lucrative of all poultry farming. This is because Layers do two things, they lay eggs which fetch good money in the market, and are equally sold for the meat. A full crate of pullet eggs sells for about N800, while a crate of semi-pullet sells for N950 wholesale price. If your Layers are large enough to produce 10,000 crates of large eggs which sells for N700, you will be making at least N650 X 10,000 = N6,500,000 From eggs alone! The chickens itself is another ball game! A fully grown chicken sells for between N2,000 and N2,500 (N1,500 to N2,000 at wholesale price) depending on the size and maturity level. Therefore, ten thousand chickens will give you N1,500 x 10,000 = N15,000,000!. With this post post I believed you will start preparing for your retirement. Poultry farming is on of those businesses you can lay your hand on after retirement so far you have been doing it when you are at active service.
